Laguna Shores 1A, aka - "Ephemeral Emerald Cavern"

On this overcast fall afternoon in Laguna with my dog Lily, we were running along the shoreline when the sun emerged and lit up the ocean and clouds. I snapped a bunch of photos to remember the mood and delicate beauty of the breaking waves, and selected this frozen moment as the one to exemplify these fleeting memories. Later, in the studio, I got to experience this feeling again while making this painting, and now hope to bring this same feeling to others.

When we are in synch with our natural environment -- whether hiking or biking or skiing or sailing or soaring in, on, over and through this amazing world (or when painting it back home) --- we reach a state of being that transcends time and space. The more of us who get to experience this state, the more of us who will fight to protect the fragile world that enables it to be reached.
